The Digital Lifestyle Show

While I am working on Episode 4 of the cutting the cord survival guide, I thought I take a moment to highlight a great resource on the web brought to you by TheDigitalLifestyle.com.   Specifically I'm talking about The Digital LifeStyle Show, a weekly podcast hosted by Ian Dixon on a wide variety of media technology, trends, products and personalities.

Last week I had a great time talking with both Ian Dixon and Garry Whitaker from the show.  You can listen to show #274 here.  I got a chance to share some of my inspiration for creating this blog among other topics.   Our Q&A begins at about 18 minutes into the show.  I hope you enjoy it.

BTW: The show now has a new name (formerly called "The Media Center Show") and has been going strong for a number of years now.  As the show is based in the UK, you also get a refreshingly international view of US and non-US players in the media space (e.g. like LoveFilm a NetFlix-like service based in England).

I actually discovered their show when doing a bit of research into remote access applications for Windows Media Center.  They had interviewed the author of Remote Potato (a great Media Center add-on that I highly recommend).

Survey says!

Fans of the early Saturday Night Live shows might remember this mock episode of Family Feud featuring Steve Martin, Bill Murray, and Dan Aykroyd.  Classic TV Comedy!  The real Family Feud game show centered around guessing the most popular answers to a survey.

Recently, a friend of mine has been bugging me about changing the blog.  You might have noticed that many of the posts are about a Media PC and cutting the cord.   When I first started the blog I thought I would make the focus a bit more broad as I'm interested in many other ways (and technologies) that can help reduce monthly bills.  I do have lots of posts planned and could write about different things.

So, I thought I'd do my own survey.  I've also put together a simple poll (see the top of the blog), but feel free to leave comments here too.

In particular, do you like posts on a wide variety of topics and technology or are you interested in only specific areas?  Are the posts too detailed (or not enough)?  In what ways could the blog be better or more interesting?

What do you think.... Survey says...

Your input wanted!

If you like these posts, here is an easy way to help out.

Many of the social networks have systems for rating and sharing content that you like.  I've added buttons for some of the popular networks to make this simple to do.  I especially think it is cool to see the counters and it provides more feedback on what people like to read about.  This helps plan future blog posts.

Digg, "Facebook Share", and Twitter buttons should now be at the top of every post.  When you view a post by itself, you should also see a "Share This" button (with a pop-up and a ton of services).
Reddit, StumbleUpon and "Facebook Like" are at the bottom (only because I didn't want to crowd the top).
FYI: See this for differences between Facebook Share v.s. Like.  "Likes" are quick, but "Shares" have a bit higher profile.

Thanks for sharing, voting, stumbling, digging, etc. and keep the comments coming.
